Washing Symbols Explained

Every garment label tells a story. Here's exactly what those tiny icons mean — and why they matter.

🫧
Machine Wash

Safe for machine wash. Check the number inside — it indicates the maximum water temperature in °C. More dots on older labels = hotter water.

Safe
🤚
Hand Wash Only

Gently wash by hand in cool or lukewarm water (max 30°C). Never twist, wring, or scrub — gently squeeze water through the fabric.

Gentle
🚫
Do Not Wash

Water will damage this fabric type. Use professional dry cleaning or spot cleaning only. Common on delicate structured garments.

Avoid
☀️
Bleach Safe

Chlorine bleach is safe to use. A triangle with two diagonal lines means non-chlorine / colour-safe bleach only. An empty triangle = any bleach.

Safe
Dry Clean Only

Professional dry cleaning is required. The letter inside the circle specifies the solvent — P = perchloroethylene, F = petroleum only.

Pro Only
💨
Tumble Dry

A circle in a square indicates tumble drying is allowed. Dots inside indicate heat: one dot = low heat, two = medium, three = high heat setting.

Safe
💧
Do Not Tumble Dry

Air dry only. Machine tumble drying will cause shrinkage, shape distortion, or fibre damage for this garment. Lay flat or hang to dry.

Avoid
🔥
Iron — Check Dots

Ironing is safe. One dot = low (silk/synthetics up to 110°C), two dots = medium (wool/polyester up to 150°C), three dots = high (cotton/linen up to 200°C).

Temp Varies
🚫
Do Not Iron

Heat from an iron will permanently damage the fabric, embellishments, prints, or special finishes on this garment. Steam pressing is also not safe.

Avoid
🌿
Lay Flat to Dry

After washing, reshape the garment and dry horizontally on a clean, dry surface. Hanging will cause the garment to stretch and distort its original shape.

Fabric-Specific Care Rules

Different fabrics have different needs. Select your garment's fabric type to see the correct care instructions.

Cotton

Cotton Care Instructions

Breathable, durable, and the most common fabric in our collection. Cotton is very forgiving but can shrink significantly if washed at high temperatures — especially in the first wash.

Wash at 30–40°C for regular loads — preserves shape and colour
Turn inside out before every wash to prevent surface fading
Use mild, colour-safe detergent — harsh chemicals damage cotton fibres over time
Iron on medium-to-high heat while the fabric is slightly damp for best results
Do not wash above 60°C — cotton shrinks dramatically at high temperatures
Do not wring or twist — gently squeeze out excess water instead
!White cotton may yellow over time — use a colour-safe optical brightener to restore whiteness

Polyester

Polyester Care Instructions

Lightweight, wrinkle-resistant, and moisture-wicking. Our activewear, performance tees, and technical pieces are often 100% polyester or poly-blend fabrics that need gentle handling.

Machine wash on gentle cycle at 30°C or below — cold water is ideal
Air dry naturally — polyester dries very quickly without needing a dryer
Wash activewear separately from cotton to prevent lint transfer
Never use high heat — polyester melts and permanently loses its shape at high temperatures
No fabric softener — it coats fibres and destroys moisture-wicking performance properties
!Wash activewear after every use to prevent stubborn odour build-up in synthetic fibres

Denim

Denim Care Instructions

Our denim pieces are designed to age beautifully and develop a unique character over time. Minimal washing is the #1 rule with denim — it keeps the indigo colour rich and deep while preventing premature fading.

Wash inside out in cold water — maximum 30°C to preserve the indigo dye
Air dry in the shade — direct sunlight causes uneven fading of indigo dye
Spot clean minor marks rather than doing a full wash each time
Avoid washing after every single wear — over-washing is the fastest way to ruin denim
Never use bleach or strong detergents — they strip colour unevenly and weaken denim fibres
!Store denim unfolded or hung on a hanger to prevent permanent fold crease marks

Fleece & Hoodie

Fleece & Hoodie Care Instructions

Our hoodies and sweatshirts are made from 280–320 GSM premium fleece designed for daily wear. Correct care keeps the fleece soft, prevents pilling, and protects screen prints and embroidery from cracking or peeling.

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle — 30°C maximum temperature
Always turn inside out before washing to protect prints, graphics, and embroidery
Zip up all zippers and fasten all buttons before washing to avoid snagging
Use a fabric shaver or lint roller to gently remove any pilling that develops over time
Do not tumble dry on high heat — causes shrinkage and damages printed graphics permanently
Never iron directly on prints, graphics, embroidery, or embellishments
!If ironing is needed, turn inside out and use a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric

Linen

Linen Care Instructions

Linen is a natural, breathable fabric that actually gets softer and more beautiful with age and wear. Handle it gently and it will reward you with years of comfortable, elegant wear across all seasons.

Hand wash or use gentle machine cycle — max 30°C with cool water only
Iron on medium heat while the fabric is still slightly damp for the crispest results
Store loosely folded or hung on a wide hanger — linen needs airflow to stay fresh
Never wring or twist linen when wet — the fibres tear and break easily under stress
Avoid bleach entirely — it permanently yellows and weakens linen fibres
!Light wrinkling is completely natural with linen — it's part of the fabric's authentic character

Act Fast

Stain Removal Step-by-Step

The most important rule: act immediately. The longer a stain sits in the fabric, the harder it becomes to remove completely.

Tea / Coffee
Act within 5 min
  1. Blot immediately with a clean cloth — do not rub, which spreads the stain
  2. Rinse with cold water from the back of the fabric to push stain out
  3. Apply a small amount of liquid detergent directly, leave for 5 minutes
  4. Machine wash at 30°C as normal — check stain is gone before drying
⚠️ Never use hot water — heat permanently sets the stain into fabric fibres
💧
Sweat & Deodorant
Treat same day
  1. Pre-soak in white vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 4 parts water) for 30 minutes
  2. Make a thick paste using baking soda and a small amount of water
  3. Apply the paste onto the stain, leave for 1 hour, then gently brush off
  4. Wash at 40°C with regular detergent — rinse thoroughly
⚠️ Never use chlorine bleach on coloured fabrics — it causes irreversible discolouration
🍔
Oil & Food Grease
Act immediately
  1. Sprinkle baking soda or talcum powder directly onto the oil stain immediately to absorb grease
  2. Wait 15 minutes, then gently brush off the powder without spreading
  3. Apply dish soap or a grease-cutting liquid detergent directly onto the stain
  4. Wash at 40°C — do not put in dryer until you confirm the stain is fully gone
⚠️ Never put garment in the dryer before the stain is completely removed — heat sets oil permanently
🩸
Blood
Act immediately
  1. Rinse immediately and thoroughly with cold water only — never use warm or hot water
  2. Apply hydrogen peroxide (3%) or a thick paste of salt and cold water to the stain
  3. Gently work the solution in with your fingertips, then rinse thoroughly with cold water
  4. Hand wash or machine wash cold at 30°C — repeat if needed before drying
⚠️ Hot water cooks the protein in blood into the fabric — always use cold water only
🖊️
Ink & Marker
Treat same day
  1. Place a clean folded cloth beneath the stained area to absorb ink bleed-through
  2. Dab (do not rub) rubbing alcohol from the outer edge of the stain inward
  3. Rinse and repeat the process until the stain fully lifts
  4. Wash at 30°C with regular detergent — check thoroughly before drying
⚠️ Always test rubbing alcohol on a hidden area first — it may affect certain fabric dyes
🌱
Mud & Dirt
Let dry first
  1. Let the mud dry completely — do not scrub or touch while still wet
  2. Once fully dry, use a soft brush or your fingers to break off and remove dried mud
  3. Apply a stain remover spray or liquid detergent to any remaining mark
  4. Machine wash at 30–40°C — check before placing in dryer
⚠️ Scrubbing wet mud spreads it deeper into fabric fibres — always wait for it to fully dry first
Between Wears

Smart Storage Tips

How you store your clothes between wears is just as important as how you wash them. Small habits make a big difference.

01
👔
Hang or Fold the Right Way

Hang structured shirts, jackets, and formal pieces on proper hangers. Fold knitwear, hoodies, and heavyweight denim — hanging these stretches the shoulders and distorts shape over time.

02
🌡️
Cool, Dry & Dark

Humidity and sustained heat cause mould, mildew, and fibre breakdown. Keep clothes away from sunlit walls, near-heaters, or any damp areas in your home.

03
🎒
Use Breathable Garment Bags

Use cotton or canvas bags for long-term seasonal storage. Plastic bags and sealed containers trap moisture, causing fabric yellowing and fibre damage over time.

04
🌿
Natural Fresheners

Cedar blocks or lavender sachets placed in your wardrobe naturally repel moths and keep garments smelling fresh — without the harsh chemicals found in commercial moth repellents.

05
🌬️
Always Air Before Storing

After wearing, air your garments outdoors or in a well-ventilated area for a few hours before returning them to your wardrobe. This reduces bacteria, odour, and moisture build-up.

06
📦
Seasonal Storage

Store off-season pieces in clean, sealed containers with silica gel packets to absorb any residual moisture. Always wash items before long-term storage — never store with stains or body oils.

Quick Reference

The Golden Rules

Simple habits that make the biggest difference to how long your garments last and how good they look.

Always Do This
Read the care label carefully before every first wash
Sort clothes by both colour and fabric type before washing
Turn dark-coloured and printed garments inside out before every wash
Use the correct amount of detergent — always less than you think you need
Check and empty all pockets before loading the washing machine
Treat any stain immediately while it is still fresh and wet
When in doubt, air dry — it is always the safest option for every fabric
Zip up all zippers and fasten buttons before putting in the machine
Never Do This
Never wash any garment in hot water without checking the care label first
Don't mix heavily soiled items with lightly worn or delicate ones
Never aggressively scrub a stain — always blot gently from the outside in
Don't overload the washing machine — clothes need room to move and rinse properly
Never leave wet clothes sitting in the machine after the wash cycle finishes
Don't tumble dry on high heat — most fabrics will shrink or lose their shape
Never iron directly on any prints, graphics, embroidery, or sequins
Don't hang knitwear, hoodies, or heavy sweaters — always fold and store flat
